

The Association of Agricultural Journalists AGROPRESS is a non-governmental organization with the main goal to revive and promote the life in the rural areas and to promote the work of journalists who cover the agricultural and food industry sector. From 2006 AGROPRESS is a member of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalist IFAJ and the President of the Association, Goran Djakovic, is a Member of the Executive Committee of this international organization placed in Paris. Until now, the Association has organized more than 90 excursions and events in the country and abroad.
Goals of AGROPRESS are:
- Promotion of the work of journalists who cover the sector and revival of the village life in Serbia
- Education of people from rural areas on agriculture at seminars, lectures, workshops and through the media
- Promotion of the latest scientific and technical achievements in agriculture
- Promotion of agricultural production
- Passing on positive experiences of countries with a developed agricultural sector to countries the region
- Cooperation with international institutions
- Giving professional assistance to the members of the Association
- Support for people from rural areas, especially women; improvement of their economical and social condition
- Promotion of rural tourism
- Involvement of internally displaced people and refugees in programs of country development
- Cherishing traditional values and getting people to know more about Serbian cultural heritage
- Communication, creative work with people from various religious and ethnical communities
- Diffusion of the idea of democracy, the principle of human rights and raise of the ecological and environmental awareness.
To achieve these goals, we have devised several programs. In cooperation with the USAID Mission, in 2009, we successfully carried out the project Women Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness.
In order to promote dialogue between all the parties and creators of the agrarian policy in Serbia, to stimulate development of agricultural production and to highlight various ongoing issues, AGROPRESS has established the “on-line agro forum” which covers all the actual topics important for the Serbian and world’s agriculture.
Our members are journalists from: RTS (national public television), TV B92 (private television station), Tanjug (national news agency), Beta (private news agency), Moc prirode (magazine specialized in agriculture), Pregled (magazine specialized in economics), Business novine, Poljoindustrija (agricultural magazine), Politika (daily newspaper), etc.
